Candle Care & Safety Guide — It’s More Than A Home
At It’s More Than A Home, every candle is hand-poured in small batches with 100% soy wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils. To enjoy the cleanest burn and longest life, follow these candle care tips:
First Burn — Memory Burn
-
Always let your candle burn until the entire top layer melts to the edges.
-
This sets a “memory burn” and prevents tunneling (wax left on the sides).
Wick Care
-
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn.
-
Remove any wick debris before lighting.
-
If your candle flickers, smokes, or mushrooms, extinguish, trim, and relight.
Burn Times
-
Do not burn more than 2-3 hours at a time.
-
Stop burning when about ¼ inch of wax remains in the container.
Safety First
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Keep away from drafts, vents, curtains, and other flammables.
-
Place on a heat-safe surface.
-
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Storage
-
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Natural Soy Wax Variations
Because our candles are handmade with 100% soy wax, you may notice:
-
Frosting (a white crystalline look)
-
Wet spots (slight glass adhesion changes)
These are normal characteristics of natural soy wax and do not affect performance, fragrance, or quality. They are a testament to the fact that our candles are free of paraffin and preservatives.
