Cheese Stars
Ever find yourself scrambling to come up with something new or different to bring to a Summer party? Here’s a great appetizer or snack recipe you can whip up in under an hour for your July 4th BBQ or Pool Party this weekend. It’s festive and delicious and you probably have all of the ingredients on hand!

Parmesan Cheddar Basil
Crackers
2.5 cups shredded Cheddar Cheese
1.5 cups butter softened
5 tablespoons half-and-half
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1.5 cups all-purpose flour
1.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
Preheat oven to 350° and line a couple of baking sheets with a Silpat or parchment paper.
Combine Cheddar cheese, butter, half-and-half, garlic powder and salt in mixing bowl and beat at medium speed, until well blended.
Slowly add flour, Parmesan cheese, and basil – mix until soft and evenly blended.
Turn the dough onto a floured work surface, and divide into 3 equal portions. Roll each out to about 1/8 inch thick.
Use a round cookie cutter (we used a fun star shape which is perfect for celebrating Independence Day!) to cut the crackers out. Place 1 inch apart on the Silpat or parchment lined baking sheets.
Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden. Then cool on wire racks before serving.
